Configuring Other Sources
In the Setup Wizard, to configure any data type that is not already listed, select All Other Sources.
Select from the following options:
- Local File. Use the Local File option to collect live, streaming data from your system. This installs a Collector, which is a lightweight application that compresses, encrypts, and caches your data as it is sent to Sumo Logic. The Setup Wizard guides you through different steps, depending on your operating system.
- HTTP Source. This is an endpoint for receiving a file (or a batch of files) uploaded via a unique URL generated for the Source. The URL securely encodes the Collector and Source information. You can add as many HTTP Sources as you'd like to a single Hosted Collector.
- Syslog Source. This operates like a syslog server listening on the designated port to receive syslog messages. Set your syslog-enabled devices to send syslog data to the same port you specify in Sumo Logic Syslog Source configuration.
- Graphite-Formatted Metrics. Graphite-formatted metrics Sources receive data in the Graphite format sent over a TCP or UDP socket.
