AWS Elastic Beanstalk

With Elastic Beanstalk, you can quickly deploy and manage applications in the AWS Cloud without having to learn about the infrastructure that runs those applications. Elastic Beanstalk reduces management complexity without restricting choice or control. You simply upload your application, and Elastic Beanstalk automatically handles the details of capacity provisioning, load balancing, scaling, and application health monitoring. Setup

You can collect the logs and metrics for Sumo Logic's AWS Elastic Beanstalk integration by following the below steps.

Configure metrics collection

• Collect CloudWatch Metrics with namespace AWS/ElasticBeanstalk using the AWS Kinesis Firehose for Metrics source. For AWS/ElasticBeanstalk metrics and dimensions, refer to AWS Elastic Beanstalk CloudWatch metrics. To publish CloudWatch custom metrics for an environment, you must first enable enhanced health reporting on the environment. See Enabling Elastic Beanstalk enhanced health reporting for instructions.

Configure logs collection

• Collect Amazon CloudWatch Logs using AWS Kinesis Firehose for Logs source. With CloudWatch Logs, you can monitor and archive your Elastic Beanstalk application, system, and custom log files from Amazon EC2 instances of your environments.

• Collect AWS CloudTrail Logs using AWS CloudTrail source. Elastic Beanstalk is integrated with AWS CloudTrail, a service that provides a record of actions taken by a user, role, or an AWS service in Elastic Beanstalk. CloudTrail captures all API calls for Elastic Beanstalk as events, including calls from the Elastic Beanstalk console, from the EB CLI, and from your code to the Elastic Beanstalk APIs. If you create a trail, you can enable continuous delivery of CloudTrail events to an Amazon S3 bucket, including events for Elastic Beanstalk. Using the information collected by CloudTrail, you can determine the request that was made to Elastic Beanstalk, the IP address from which the request was made, who made the request, when it was made, and additional details.
